Welcome to the subject Linguistic Studies of English I. The subject will allow the students to get into contact with the pronunciation of American and British variants of English. It is also covered the role of some of the major aspects related to the pronunciation of English  in the conducction of the teaching learning process of this language in different educational levels in the Cuban context. I really am sure that this subject will contribute a lot to the improvement of your pronunciation.

THE SUBJECT CORRECTIVE PHONETICS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE SUBJECT LINGUISTC STUDIES OF ENGLISH I, BUT TAKING AS A PRIORITY THE PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE CONTENTS DEALT WITH IN THE SUBJECT PREVIOUSLY REFERRED TO. THEREFORE, IT IS PRIMARILY RELATED TO THE MOST COMMON MISTAKES OF THE STUDENTS DURING THE ARTICULATION OF THE ENGLISH VOWELS, DIPHTHONGS AND CONSONANTS AND SOME OF THE MAJOR CORRECTION TECHNIQUES TO USE IN EACH CASE. THE PROFESSIONAL CONTEXT IS RELATED TO THE SYLLABUS OF ENGLISH IN THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF EDUCATION IN THE CUBAN CONTEXT.

This subject Sociolinguistics and non-verbal language is based on the principles of the Communicative Approach. Its basic form of teaching is through theoretic-practical activities. Non-verbal communication, and particularly, gesture language or gestural language, or body language makes use of small videos, pictures and photos that facilitate its understanding and the impact gestures have in completing getting through a message in a foreign language. Besides, it helps to avoid the cross-cultural shock an incorrect use of gestures with all the negative consequences thus their importance in FLT. Therefore, the students must develop correct habits of independent, autonomous learning, the searching of information and foremost collaborative work that may contribute to improve the teaching-learning process of English as a foreign language and therefore the integral formation of Cuban new generations.


The course of Didactics of Foreign Language I (DFL I) helps you introduce into the process of lessons planning, considering the different types of lessons. In this course you will study some themes, such as Introduction to Didactics of English Language, the Context of English Language Teaching and Learning Process in Cuba, Learners´ needs analysis,  Lessons Planning in English Courses, and others.

Los estudios lingüísticos del español se han incluido, históricamente, en los planes de estudio de la Carrera de Lenguas Extranjeras por su alto valor teórico y metodológico como base para la formación de docentes de esa especialidad, que no solo deben ser efectivos en el uso del lenguaje y la comunicación en lengua extranjera, sino que deben caracterizarse por un dominio de la lengua española que les facilitará la adquisición de la lengua que estudian.

Los contenidos propuestos tienen como objetivo crear las bases para la comprensión y el análisis del nivel gramatical de la lengua española, que en años posteriores deberán estudiar en lengua inglesa, por tanto, se brindará el fundamento teórico con predominio del aspecto práctico.


The course Integrated English Pracice V is taught for the students of the foreign language majoring (Education). It  constitues a very important  course  in the base curriculum  in the version remote learning (modality CPE). This subject has a total amount of 86 hours and  it belongs to the syllabus of the first semester of the school term.

 

The syllabus is designed with a flexible and creative perspective. It covers theoretical and practical learning tasks which will provide the  student̀s the necessary and  adequate communicative and professional competencies  for the sake of planning     educative learning tasks within the teaching learning process of the English language at any of the different subsystems of education.
